Know the exact step-by-step path to your art and career goals

We'll start with whichever question below matters most to you right now, then build your year from there.

01 Your skills

"Which skill should I practice next?"

We'll find the drawing or painting skill that's holding your paintings back and choose a focused way to practice it.

02 Your voice

"How do I make my paintings look like me?"

We'll look for the choices in your art that already feel most like you, and decide how to explore them further.

03 Your collection

"Which of these paintings belong together?"

We'll talk through what your paintings say as a group and where the collection needs more consistency or depth.

04 Selling your art

"Where do I start with selling?"

We'll look at the gap between the art you're making and the people you want to reach, then choose your next business step.

Whichever one we start with, you'll leave with your 1-year plan: your road map to advancing your career as an artist.

Come prepared and we'll get further in 30 minutes

Three things in your questionnaire matter most. They tell me where your art is now, where you want to take it and how soon you want to get there.

  1. Send 6 to 10 pieces of your recent art

Pick what you've made lately, including one you're struggling with. Recent art shows me where you are today.

  2. Know your goals, now and long term

What do you want to accomplish with your art in the next few months? And where do you want it to take you over the next few years?

  3. If you want to sell, put a number on it

How much yearly income do you want your art to bring in, and by when? The amount and the time frame tell me which steps come first.

Get a professional artist's eye on your portfolio

I've made, marketed and sold my art full-time for 30 years. Along the way I've worked in décor publishing, art licensing, fine-art galleries and direct sales, and I co-founded Milan Art Institute to teach artists how to develop their skills, find their voice and build a career around what they create.

When I look at your paintings, I'm looking at the art in front of me and at the artist you're becoming.

"Elli has helped me overcome real obstacles, both in my art and in how I see myself as an artist. She believes in you fully and never doubts you'll reach your dreams."

Before you book

What should I send before the call?

6 to 10 pieces of your recent art, your goals for the next few months and the next few years, and, if you want to sell your art professionally, the yearly income you'd like it to bring in and by when. It also asks what you've tried so far and what you think is getting in the way. A website or social account helps if you have one. Please complete the questionnaire before your appointment so I can prepare.

Will we cover every part of my art and business?

We'll start with what matters most for your goals, then plan your months around it. You'll know what comes first and what can wait until later in the year.

What if the call doesn't help?

If you don't leave with a clear first step, tell me after the call and I'll refund your $229.

Do I have to buy anything else?

No. If the Mastery Program, the Society of Professional Artists or personal mentoring would help, I'll explain the option and how your $229 credit works.

Can I book if I'm already in the Mastery Program?

Yes. Mastery Program students are welcome too. I'll review your art and your goals the same way, and you'll leave with your 1-year plan.
